Student WORK

Science/stem

Kindergarten- Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School

In Science, J3 learned all things about the Sun. They learned that the Sun radiates and gives life to all living things on Earth, they learned that it is important to protect themselves from the Sun's powerful rays.

Students participated in the engineering process to create a contraption to protect M&Ms from the Sun. The class compared M&Ms protected from their contraption to M&Ms that were kept in direct sunlight

Science/stem

5th Grade- Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School

In Science, students learned about the technology that NASA scientists use to explore space and Earth's neighboring planets, rovers. The students had the opportunity to participate in the engineering process to create their own rovers. They used a variety of materials: cardboard, tape, rubber-bands, plastic straws, pipe cleaners, and life-saver candy. The students were given the challenge to design and build a rubber band powered rover that can scramble across the floor. The students challenged each other to see whose rover could travel the furthest distance in the shortest amount of time. Once the classes data was collected, the students practiced graphing data using a scatter plot.
